I bought the game as I saw a charm with a combination of Matc. Although I am not a fan of match 3 games that limit the number of moves, I absolutely LOVE this game! I played RELAXED so supposedly more moves per level. And I found the side quests an enjoyable and sometimes hilarious break from the match 3 game play.

It took me some time to really get into it but once I did, I couldn't stop playing. I finished it in 15 days and 63.5 hours of logging in daily for the daily bonus with 3 stars in all levels (only had to replay 3 levels). It took me once using a phoenix feather to revive my horse to figure out that I had to keep him healthy.

My strategy: With 100+ moves left and before the last board is completed, I used them to build up resources following the matching pattern at the top. But once my resources were stable, i used them to match blue bottles that are used to get a free power-up on the left. The power-ups are key to winning levels but deciding which one to use on which board is a guessing game at best especially when you don't know what is coming on the other boards in the level. Also using gold in the casino for the slots can win some of the all-important power-ups too.

I am not one for long games but this one was very addictive! Definitely hoping for a sequel!. A great match 3 game! With a free bonus every day and 200 levels you can enjoy it for a long time.. The best I can say about this game...is that it is an okay time killer, but otherwise it gets a little irritating after awhile, way too many game mechanics, and the playfields eventually get so cluttered up that it becomes more of a chore to clear a board than being any fun.

As for the horse that you choose at the beginning, may as well be able to leave it in the stable, especially after you have to collect five hundred, 500, of those damned shields to even craft one single item, and guess what? You have to craft stamina items for the aformentioned horse, so, more grindfest that just becomes irritating and you eventually lose the horse bonus for moves when it dies, unless you happen to be lucky throughout your run, or, unless you happen to have one of those increasingly difficult to get phoenix feathers, or whatever they are called. Oh, I forgot to mention that the poor animal's hunger and stamina bar decrease even when you aren't playing, Fun huh?

In short, could be a good, or even great game if it weren't for the dodgy mechanics that bog it down way, way too much.
As for my rating, can't really recommend it, unless you have a penchant for getting past the troubles mentioned.

Addendum: Got to level 32, I have been stuck due to the board layout and insanely poor game design that makes the portal keys react like they are a legitimate match 3 or four when they line up and nothing else on the board does on top of everything else gone wrong with this waste of drive space. The only way past this I can see is to waste time grinding for gold to buy enough Bombs to nuke the level into oblivion.

Not going to waste my time on that, got better things to do/play, consider this one on the uninstall and remove list for me. -_-;. Game is so so - not too bad but not good. So, this was a new experience for me.. An awesome match 3 game full of wonderful sights and sounds and things to do! Challenging and fun to play. Keep your horse well maintained after each play, and it will cost you less to keep him/her healthy and going. Help fellow villagers out as you go on your way. This is a Win-Win game for anyone that truly loves match 3 games. It's also a great starting point if you're just being introduced to match 3 games.
Grab something to eat, And a drink to go with. Feed the dog. Say, "Hi!" to the family...(or just wave at them)! Get ready to spend hours of fun with this Amazing match 3 game. After this game is downloaded, you'll find it hard to stop playing! Definitely worth a try!...Enjoy!

I LOVE Wayward Manor!! It's not hard to play and still very entertaining. I really like the music and the graphics. The story is original. I definitely recommend this game!!. Normally I devour the works of Neil Gaiman like an Osedax worm devouring a whale carcass; but this game was a huge disappointment to me. The story seems like it could have been really interesting...such a shame that it was completely eclipsed by the soul-crushing monotony of the gameplay. So much repetitive clicking. I appreciated the tone of the game - very ooky-spooky and therefore right up my alley. Overall I think I'd have preferred that Gaiman stuck to his wheelhouse and wrote this as a novella, graphic novel or similar.. I had a very fun charming afternoon with this game. Not sure what all the fuss is about or what people were expecting. But I found it to be a very enjoyable experience. Some of those secret scares are really challenging and rewarding. Also had no bug issues in the latest build.. When I started playing this game was a bit confusing, but after a while I found it very fun, I can play it with my granddaughter and share the scary moments, and we enjoy a lot to see the furniture all flying around the rooms.
The characters are funny, the game it\u00b4s easy to play, very well designed and the music is nice (but sometimes a llitle repetitive).
I definitely recomend it, hope I can see it for iPad, because I travel a lot with mine.. After reading some reviews, I was wary. I could understand some of the points others were making and I went into the game worried about gameplay, graphics, and story; but I pleasently surprised.

There were a few bugs here and there, but it looks like the developer is taking care of them as they find them. This would explain not encountering some of the bugs others had previously mentioned. As time goes on, I am sure there will be little to none to speak of.

The graphics, although not up to the quality of some of the larger titles, has character and style. It was actually an enjoyable break from the drab color-palatte of larger games. And since this game is tagged as both indie and casual, I am to take into assumption that it isn't meant to rival a heavy-budgetted game and just live up to what it wants to be; fun. Intent aside, the rooms are fun and visually enjoyable, the characaters are amusing to watch, and the resolution seemed fine for whatever screen I played on.

The gameplay was simple, a point and click combination puzzle game that didn't have me frustrated by level 2 by some overly-complicated design. Even further in, the difficulty was raised, but feasable. The complexity came into the 'secret scares' which would be the achievements for this game.

The story felt a bit loose, but the quick cutscenes between the worlds as well as blurbs from stuffed animals\/gargoyles\/tutorial-like house narration helped keep you tethered to the story and who was involved. I didn't feel like it was a visual narration of one of Neil's books, which I can only assume others felt dissapointed by. All in all, the focus was more on the fun gameplay than bogging the player down with too much story.

As a over-all whole, I enjoyed the game. I even spent time trying to get all the secret scares, some of which took me a while to get, and some yet elude me.

TL;DR : It's a fun casual puzzle game with some character with a bonus of Neil Gaiman's narration.. A lot of people seem to not like this game. I'm not exactly sure why. I like it.
Neil Gaiman does an excellent job with the short narrations. And the entire concept of an old house calling on a ghost to haunt the current annoying residents out is in no way a new concept but it is done well here.
The artwork is interesting. You won't see much like it. Now some are really hating it because they just can't seem to get why everything is so...well ugly. However, I see that it is all based on Victorian style cartooning, (please go look up Alice in Wonderland and look at the original artwork by John Tenniel, you'll see exactly what I'm referring to.) So its not supposed to look pretty by todays standards, its supposed to look the way it does and I find that its quite charming.
The puzzles; if your an adult or near adult then I imagine this game will be rather easy and will just become tedious to you. If however, you have children or if you are a child then the puzzles will be challenging but not too much so.
Now the Music, at first the music isn't the worst thing in the world but yes it does become very very irritating. The sound effects are very repetitve and will make you want to shut off the sound. At least they did with me.
Lastly, the bugs, yes there are some serious bugs. One is that the objects sometimes don't interact with the enviroment like they are supposed to. Sometimes the items at the end of the level when they are all flying around the room will indeed go through each other or through the walls. And yes sometimes the game will in a sense freeze up because the people wont run out of the room but rather just run around the room trying to get out and you will have to restart the level.
As it stands currently I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars. If they fixed some of the bugs, then maybe would consider raising it to a 4 out of 5.. About half way through the game and having a great time! Love the art direction and the puzzles are a lot of fun, I'll definitely go back to solve them in different ways. Ran into a few minor bugs, but nothing that stopped me from playing. Defintely worth it for the music alone.. This little puzzle game has its appeal. What I really enjoy is being able to get the achievements for the different levels AFTER I have gained all of the skulls. It doesn't make you start over the level from the beginning like other puzzle games. Anything that makes getting achievements easier is a good thing in my book.. To put it simply: I love this game.

It's very charming. It's extremely quirky. But what makes me love this game the most is that it's...fun.
Yes, it's fun. Simple, but fun. As I'm writing this, I'm only through the first chapter, but I can say this with certainty:

Wayward Manor has an interesting story, cute characters, and a unique direction of art. Put all of those things together into the gameplay style (Point & Click, Puzzler) and voil\u00e0: You have a fun game! (In my opinion)

. Its not game of the year, but its damn close.
Only bad thing is that there are no fortinte dances.. I like this game in general, I just couldnt get passed the constant yelllow ground. It hurt my eyes a bit. With that being said, i enjoy the game will continue to play more. Its a building sim where you must survive on Mars, make Elon proud, though I might not have :P.

While the game has an interesting combat system, nothing else is worth your time and the level design is atrocious. I quit the game at Act II. There are too many pointless sub-quests and I cannot hear the terrible voice acting anymore. I went to youtube for the story. And that's it, I uninstalled the game.. Story: 4\/10

This game has decent graphics for a 2D isometric during its release date. The story is un-compelling and lacking in background so you do not feel attached to the main characters. There is a large skill system (though not intuitive), but on the highest difficulty you can only invest skills in combat unless you want a crippled party. The game got VERY grindy towards acts 2 and 3. Midway through act 4 the game crashed so many times I gave up playing. Far and above the worst part of this game was the cringy, unbearable voice acting. I am only thankful that it crashed out on me before I had to hear one more word come out of my character's mouth. I do not recommend this game, it has not aged well.
